They provide management and service to dental care facilities, including non clinical operations. Dental Service Organizations has come to play an increasingly important role in the health care delivery in many communities. Dental Service Organizations have been called upon by many insurance companies and employers to insure their employees against preventative dental care. The goals of Newbury Dental Group are to ensure that dentists provide quality patient care, maximize patient safety, increase dentition-related revenues, improve accessibility of services, and foster a positive working relationship between dentist and patient. A Dental Service Organization also provides extended health care coverage for its members. Dental Service Organizations varies widely in scope and function; however, they all support the goals of providing affordable, high quality dental care to patients and ensuring that dentists meet the requirements of insurance companies. Some Dental Service Organizations offer only specific types of services or programs to their members, while others provide all or part of a patient's needs. In addition to standard direct care and referral work, Dental Service Organizations provides several other kinds of extended health care services to their members. One such program is called Dental Assisting Programs (DAP). DAP offers dentists an opportunity to be hired as a professional trainer for advanced dental care education and practice. Dental Assistants work under the direction of licensed dental hygienists or dentists. Dental Assistants assist dentists in providing basic and specialty procedures, such as teeth cleanings, tooth extractions, and in teaching patients the basics of oral health care. Another Dental Service Organization is the American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA). The ADAA was formed over forty years ago to promote affordable care and provide dental care to its members. The association has local offices and chapters throughout the United States and Canada. The ADAA offers a variety of opportunities to its members, including tax benefits and professional development. In addition, the association offers continuing education credits to its members who demonstrate a commitment to continuing education and advancement of the profession. Dentists here who participate in Dental Service Organizations are expected to meet a certain level of professional competence. This level of competence requires ongoing education, certification, and re-certification every two years. In addition to these requirements dentists must meet state and federal requirements for registration with the Dental Admission Bureau (DAB), which is a division of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Registration with the Dental Admission Bureau is required for all participating in Dental Service Organizations. Participating dentists are assessed by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) every two years to assure that they maintain standards of professional and technical competence. Dental Service Organizations also helps dentists in setting up new practices or expand existing ones. Dentists can either work directly with the Dental Service Organization or they can start-up a practice of their own. Many dentists choose to work directly with Dental Service Organizations because they are familiar with the processes and regulations associated with Dental Service Organizations and they can focus on providing patient care. If you have decided to start-up your own dental practice, contact a DSO. Check out this post for more details related to this article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dental_Service_Organizations.
